Telecommunication Services & High-Speed Internet
Since 1999, The Sylacauga Utilities Board has offered high-quality telecommunication services to our customers. While the technologies have changed a few times in the last 24 years. In 2001, we began constructing a fiber optic network offering access to the Internet at the speed of light. This pioneering endeavor has enabled us to offer the absolute best in technological resources to our community. In addition, it has provided our local education system with up-to-date tools to better prepare students for the digital world. Call now for more information at 256-401-2560.
Our Fiber Optic Network
Taking advantage of the latest XGSPON technology combined with Active Ethernet Direct Internet Access, SUB is offering our customers the very best Internet Service products available today. All subscribers are connected at a minimum of 1 Gbps or 1,000 Mbps per second. 10 Gbps connections are also available for high-demand business applications. With the newer Cloud Services that are growing in use and adaptation, the demand for Upload bandwidth has risen to match that of Download demand. We got that covered as well. Every fiber-based package we offer has the same Upload speed as the Download speed.
Other than our own use of the network for our (electrical substations, gas regulator stations, water and wastewater treatment plants), other entities that take advantage of this fiber network include all City of Sylacauga public services, City Hall, Police, Fire, Street, Animal Shelter, including our local EMS and our distinguished B.B. Comer Memorial Library.
