Power Factor Adjustment:
The monthly metered kW demand may be adjusted to an equivalent 90.0% lagging power factor for the purpose of establishing the monthly Billing kW when the power factor measured at the point of delivery to the Customer is determined to be less than 90% lagging. Such adjustment will be deferred for six (6) months at a new point of delivery to allow for corrective action by the Customer.

Power Factor Adjustment:
The monthly metered kW demand may be adjusted to an equivalent 90.0% lagging power factor for the purpose of establishing the monthly On-Peak and Off-Peak Billing kW when the power factor measured at the point of delivery to the Customer is determined to be less than 90% lagging. Such adjustment will be deferred for six (6) months at a new point of delivery to allow for corrective action by the Customer.

Primary Service Credit:
Whenever the Customer furnishes, installs, owns and maintains at the Customer's expense all protective devices, transformers, and other equipment required for primary voltage service, as specified by the Board, the Demand rate set forth in the Monthly Rate will be reduced by $0.25 per Billing kW.

Large Power Service

This rate schedule is applicable to all electric service required by the Customer whose maximum metered or calculated kVA demand is greater than 1,000.00 kVA for any two consecutive months, when the Customer enters into a long-term Electric Service Agreement with the Board.

Monthly Rate:

  • Basic Monthly Charge: $250.00 per month
  • Energy Rate: $0.0227 per kWh
  • Demand Rate: $8.00 per Billing kVA

The above rate per kWh will be adjusted plus or minus in accordance with the Purchased Power Cost Adjustment and the amount computed at the Monthly Rate shall be subject to any taxes, assessments or surcharges imposed by any governmental authority.

Minimum Bill: The monthly minimum charge shall be the Basic Monthly Charge plus all applicable rate adjustments

Billing kVA:
The monthly Billing kVA shall be the greater of:

  1. The highest metered kVA demand established during any 15 minute interval during the billing month;
  2. 80.0% of the maximum metered kVA demand during the previous eleven months;
  3. The Contract Demand set forth in the Commercial Electric Service Agreement.

Purchased Power Adjustment

The Purchased Power Cost Adjustment is applicable to all kWh delivered by the Sylacauga Utilities Board. The Board will calculate Purchased Power Cost Adjustment factor (the PPCA) on a monthly basis, based on actual cost and sales, and apply the PPCA to the next full series of billing cycles. The calculated PPCA will be rounded to the nearest $0.0001 per kWh.

The PPCA formula is:
PPCA = [(A + T)
/ B] - $0.0349

Where:

"A" is the Board's total costs associated with its' bulk power supply;

"B" is the Board's total kWh sales; and

“T” is the Board’s monthly adjustment to true-up projected costs and sales to actual costs and sales; and

"$0.0349" is the Board's cost per kWh of purchased power recoverable from the base rates and charges for electric service.

The True-Up formula is:

T = R – (E x PPCA)

Where:

R is the actual revenue requirement; and

E is the actual kWh sales.
