Before reporting an electric service interruption, check to see if your neighbors have electricity. If they have electricity, check your home's electric service panel (fuses and circuit breakers) to see if the electric service interruption is inside the home. If the problem appears to be with Sylacauga Utility Board's lines, call 249-0372 during normal working hours or 245-6402 after hours. Give your name and location. An electric line technician is available 24 hours a day and will be dispatched promptly.
Natural Gas Emergency...
Sylacauga Utilities Board adds an oderant to natural gas that helps detect a leak. Its distinctive odor is a built-in safety signal. Even small leaks can be easily detected. If you smell a faint odor, follow your nose to the source. A pilot light may be out, or a stove burner partially open. It may be something that can be easily and safely corrected.
If an intense odor seems to be present, take precautions to ensure the safety of yourself and family. Leave the building immediately. Don't switch anything on or off, not even a light switch. Don't light a match. Go to the nearest telephone outside your home and call Sylacauga Utilities Board at 249-0372 during normal working hours or 245-6402 after hours. A gas service specialist is available 24 hours a day and will be dispatched immediately to locate a gas leak and take the necessary steps to protect you and your family.
