The Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA) on behalf of the Sylacauga Utilities Board will award one technical and two academic scholarships to qualifying students.

Technical Scholarship Information

AMEA will make available $2,500 for first year expenses at a technical or two year college in Alabama. Recipients are selected from the following criteria: Grades 40%, Community Involvement 10%, Work Experience 20%, Need 30%.

Academic Scholarship Information

AMEA will make available two scholarships at $2,500 each for first year expenses at any two or four year college in Alabama. Recipients are selected from the following criteria: Grades 40%, ACT Score 30%, Community Involvement 5%, Work Experience 5%, Need 20%.

Information Regarding Both Scholarships

Applicants for both scholarships must be a child (natural, adopted, or foster) of a family who receives electrical service from the Sylacauga Utilities Board. This can be a residential service or electric service at a business owned wholly or, if a small corporation – at least 51% of stock, by the applicants family. Three applicants will be selected for each scholarship and will be evaluated by an independent panel of college counselors from Montgomery. Both scholarships will be awarded without regard to other awards, loans or financial assistance the applicant may obtain.
