Since the Development of the Parks and Recreation Board the

City of Sylacauga has developed, The J. Craig Smith Community Center,

the Verlie B. Collins Center, the Maxye Veazey Senior Activity Center,

four parks, softball complex, two walking tracks, (one concrete and one

gravel).  A large swimming  facility that is enclosed in the winter  providing

year round aquatics.

Our four city parks are now handicapped accessible.  Noble Park, has a

skate park with several different types of ramps for all levels.  In 2007 a BMX

Track is scheduled to be constructed on the west end of Noble Park.  In 2008

we will start improvements at Lake Howard, this will include a 20 mile hiking

and mountain bike trail in the National Forest, also a pavilion for rental.

The Donald Comer Softball Complex is used by many different

programs and in the fall these fields are converted to soccer and football

fields.
