About the Teen Advisory
Council (TAC)
The Teen Advisory
Council (TAC) was formed in 1989 at the B.B.
Comer Memorial Library and was the first group
of this type in Alabama. The members of the
group come from various area schools and are
between the ages of 12 and 18. The group was
formed in order to provide the library with
feedback about its services to the young adult
age group, but more specifically, how these
services could be
improved.
To help bridge the gap between
young adults and books, members of TAC often
provide suggestions of materials for the young
adult department. TAC is often involved with
other library programs such as sponsoring
storytime events for younger children and
helping to prepare materials for adult programs.
TAC meets twice a month on Tuesday night from
4:00 p.m.
until 5:00 p.m. for
special programs, to discuss books, and to help
put up library displays and change bulletin
boards in the children's and young adult
departments.
