Sylacauga History Fact
Presented by Bettye Lessley

| The above is a drawing of Rev. Albert Branscomb,
pastor of the First Methodist Church. It was made in his home and
shows Mr. Branscomb in a typical pose when he is enjoying a good
book. He was reared at Union Springs and educated at Birmingham
Southern and Emory University. His first work after leaving college
was Director of Wesley Foundation at the University of Alabama.
During his twelve years as a minister, he has been pastor of the
churches at Gorgus, Sycamore, Aliceville, North Highlands
Birmingham, and Sylacauga. He is a member of the Board of Finance
and the Resolutions Committee of the North Alabama Conference. He is
a Mason, and a Rotarian, interested in sports of all kinds, having
played baseball and football while in high school. Enjoys golf,
tennis and some fishing. Friendly, sincere, a positive personality, Mr. Branscomb has proven himself one of Sylacauga's outstanding citizens, always ready, always willing to cooperate in any community interest. Sylacauga News July 23, 1937 |
