This position entails responsible planning for development within
the City. The work involves city subdivision and site plan regulation, historic
preservation ordinances, and flood damage prevention ordinances.
Incumbent works under the general supervision of the Mayor.

EXAMPLES
OF WORK PERFORMED
-
Meet with the City Planning Commission; and
Board of Adjustments and Appeals.
-
Review
submitted site plans and make recommendations; assist developers
in solving problems of design; hold pre-construction conferences
with developers, contractors, and utility companies.

Make
on-site inspections for applicants seeking zoning changes, site
design approval, proposed sites for subdivisions, complaints, and
investigate suspected violations of regulations and
ordinances.

Prepare
drawings for projects proposed by the various City departments.

Prepare
and submit applications for government grants; assist in the
administration of grants; assist in the preparation of bid
documents; create and maintain project files; prepare and
conduct public surveys as needed.

The City Planner is
responsible for planned growth throughout the City.
