'Progressing Through The Millennium'

Sylacauga, AL . . . The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce two new employees. Amanda Wilson is the new Administrative Assistant and Laura Burton is the new Membership Coordinator. Both have been on the job less than a month.

Wilson recently graduated from CACC with an Associate Degree in Applied Science with a major in office administration. While there she was awarded outstanding student in office administration and made the dean's list. She is proficient in computers and the internet. Wilson's previous employment included Audio Visual Training (AVT) Lab Assistant at CACC where she assisted other students with assignments, assisted instructors with various projects, maintained security of the computer lab and periodically cleaned the computer hard drives of unwanted files.

Wilson is a 1997 graduate of New Systems School. Wilson has lived in Sylacauga area all of her life. Wilson has proved in only a few weeks that she is a valuable team player with keyboarding, communications and human relations skills.

Burton has a 1993 Business/Marketing Degree from CACC. Her previous employment included: Manager Assistant and Corporate Account Manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Account Executive for the Daily Home.

Some of Burton's honors include: 1991 Coordinator & Team Captain for the March of Dimes, 1994 Salesperson of the year, 1997-1998 Customer Service Award, 1997 -1998 Monthly Top Damage Waiver Sales, and 1998 Extra Mile Award.

Burton is a 1990 graduate of Talladega High School. She is married to David Burton of Sylacauga. They have three children: Jordan, 5 years, Henley 6 months and Brady 3 years.

Burton has proved also to be a valuable team player in only a week. She possesses the public relation, customer service and marketing skills needed in this position.

They have joined the new Executive Director, Crystal Ricks, and long-time employee Glenda McGrady in planning events like the annual chamber banquet last week, the upcoming Holiday Open House, the annual Christmas Parade and many other functions.
